1.) enticing- attractive or tempting; alluring
2.) tenacity- the quality or fact of being able to grip something firmly; grip.
3.) bevy- a large group of people or things of a particular kind.
4.) paramount- more important than anything else; supreme.
5.) prominent- important; famous
6.) caliber- the quality of someone's character or the level of someones ability.
7.) variable contrast- system of paper and filters allowing changes in contrast.
8.) halftone- a printed image in which shades of gray are represented with a regularly spaced array of different sizes of black dots.
9.) SLR- single lens reflex; a camera w/ one lens.
10.) sunny 16 rule- A guideline that states that you can expose a normal scene, lit by bright sunlight, at an aperture of f16 and a shutter speed equivalent to the film speed (iso or ASA) being used.
11.) TTL- through the lens; commonly used when referring to metering through the lens as opposed to via a separate meter, effective for fill flash and other tricky lighting situations.
12.) focal light- the distance from the optical center of a lens to the image plane when the lens is focused to infinity.
13.) incandescent- light that results when a substance is heated w/ electricity, such as tungsten bulb: gives a yellowish cast to a photo.
14.) existing light- amount of light in a scene without the addition of light from artificial sources such as a flash; also known as available light.
15.) dedicated flash- fully automatic flash that illuminates the subject w/the required light.
16.) fill flash- technique using both available lights and artificial light, The light from the flash is used to "fill in" the shadows made by existing light.
17.) hot shoe- part of a camera which allows an electronic flash to be fired at the same time as the shutter is released based on electronical contact with the camera.
18.) digital photography workflow- a consistent set of steps to organize and adjust photos.
19.) center of interest- the subject of a photo.
20.) chimping- when two or more photographers gather around a digital camera or monitor to look at images.
